Dodgers hold on for win
Los Angeles secured a 3-2 victory Tuesday night at Arizona to improve to 55-26 overall and 21-17 on the road. Julio Urias picked up the win in relief as he threw three shutout innings with one hit allowed, one strikeout and one walk. Kenley Jansen earned his 23rd save as he gave up one hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning. Enrique Hernandez led off the game with a home run to kickstart the Dodgers as it was his only hit in four at-bats. Justin Turner finished 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Chris Taylor went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Tony Gonsolin will make his MLB debut today for LA.
Diamondbacks unable to rally
Arizona lost by a count of 3-2 Tuesday night at home versus Los Angeles to fall to 40-41 overall and 16-22 at home. David Peralta helped lead the D-Backs offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ketel Marte went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Carson Kelly finished 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Robbie Ray suffered the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks over 6 1/3 innings. Taylor Clarke gets the start today for Arizona as he comes in with a 1-3 record, 6.48 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with 28 strikeouts over 33 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Dodgers are 40-15 in their last 55 games overall. Los Angeles is 3-5 in its last eight road games.
The D-Backs are 2-7 in their last nine games overall. Arizona is 1-7 in its last eight games versus a right-handed starter.
The Diamondbacks don't have a full scouting report on Gonsolin, while the Dodgers do have MLB film on Clarke and a lot of it hasn't been pretty. Los Angeles has plenty of mashers who should feast off Clarke and give Gonsolin plus the bullpen the run support they need to get the win.
