Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Chad Pinder went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the Athletics’ 8-2 loss to the Rays on Sunday. Pinder accounted for exactly half of the Athletics six hits combined in a blowout loss to the Rays at home. The versatile 27-year-old singled in the second, doubled in the fourth and singled in the seventh to cap off his second three-hit performance of the 2019 campaign. The multi-position eligibility has some tangible value in deeper formats, but he’s been underwhelming at the plate, hitting .259/.304/.429 with 26 runs scored, six homers and 21 RBI in 184 plate appearances.
St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Jose Martinez clubbed a solo home run in the ninth inning on Sunday, preventing the Cardinals from being shut out by the Angels. The Cardinals were just one out away from being shut out in this one when Martinez crushed a Jake Jewell offering into the seats in left-center. It was the only hit in four at-bats on the night for Martinez. His bat has perked up in recent weeks and he's now hitting .291/.358/.408 with five long balls and 28 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are 5-2 in their last seven games overall and are 12-4 in their last 16 road contests.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games following a loss.
Prediction:
The A’s are 5-2 in their last seven games versus the Cardinals and they match up well with Flaherty. The youngster has struggled to keep the ball in the yard this season and Oakland’s lineup is filled with fly-ball hitters with power. It should be a warm night in St. Louis, which will also help the ball fly. Given how inconsistent the Cardinals have been this season, I like the value tonight in the A’s moneyline odds.
