Reds rally in ninth

Cincinnati scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep over visiting Houston with a 3-2 victory. Jesse Winker drove in Nick Senzel with the game-winning RBI single. Winker ended the contest 3-for-4 with a walk and the RBI. Yasiel Puig finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run plus a double. Senzel was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Matt Bowman earned the win in relief as he threw two scoreless innings with three hits allowed, no strikeouts and no walks. Tanner Roark will start tonight as he enters with a 4-6 record, 3.63 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 74 strikeouts over 74 1/3 innings.

Brewers swept at Padres

Milwaukee was swept in a three-game series at San Diego as it lost 8-7 Wednesday night to drop to 40-34 overall and 18-21 on the road. Christian Yelich helped pace the Brewers offense as he went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Ryan Braun finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk and three RBIs. Yasmani Grandal ended the contest 1-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Jeremy Jeffress took the loss in relief as he gave up three earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and one walk over one inning of work. MLB Betting Trends

Cincinnati

The Reds are 5-2 in their last seven Thursday games. Cincinnati is 1-5 in the last six Roark starts.

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 4-0 in their last four home games. Milwaukee is 1-5 in its last six games overall.

Prediction:

Nelson hasn't pitched very well since returning from a major shoulder injury, although his strikeout rate has been solid. I am going to try and take advantage of Nelson trying to figure it out and take a shot at a reliable pitcher in Roark on the road. Milwaukee is tough to beat at Miller Park, but the Reds have been playing well lately and I think they can parlay that into another victory here as they look to climb back into the NL Central race.
