Dodgers' Strpling solid again in win over Giants

Ross Stripling allowed two runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings while striking out six in a 3-2 win over the Giants on Friday. Stripling was cruising through this one before he allowed a two-run homer to Pablo Sandoval that cut his start short. Still, it's another strong outing for the right-hander, and his ERA 'raises' to 1.76 with a downright impressive 78/11 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has a fun duel coming up with the Cubs and Jon Lester on Wednesday.

Cubs' Lester allows two runs vs. Cards for eighth victory of season

Jon Lester improved to 8-2 after allowing two runs over six innings Friday against the Cardinals. Lester got plenty of help from his offense and cruised to his fourth straight win. The veteran southpaw allowed five hits — with both runs scoring on solo homers — while walking one and striking out three. After a disappointing 2017, ranks fifth in the National League with a 2.28 ERA through 14 starts.

They're also 4-1 in his last five starts when he's coming off four days of rest and are 4-0 in his last four outings when he faces a team with a winning record. Both pitchers and both teams are hot so I'll take a small risk on the dog today.
