Adam Wainwright limited the Marlins to two runs over six frames Monday, taking a no-decision in the Cardinals' 4-2 win. Wainwright suddenly lost the strike zone in the third inning with back-to-back two-out walks to load the bases, and Jazz Chisholm made him pay with a two-RBI single. The 39-year-old right-hander buckled down after that, retiring 10 of the final 11 batters he faced. It's the third straight quality start for Wainwright, who has given innings to a Cardinals rotation desperately in need of them. He'll face his original organization, the Braves, in Atlanta this weekend.

Drew Smyly allowed two runs on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts over five innings in a 6-4 win over the Marlins on Sunday. Smyly was sharp through four innings before running into some trouble in the fifth. Jon Berti singled to lead off the inning before Starling Marte drove him in to score with a two-out base hit. Jesus Aguilar followed with a single, and a wild pitch would bring Marte across the plate. The 32-year-old right-hander was otherwise impressive, throwing 64-of-91 pitches for strikes and generating 11 swings-and-misses. Smyly has struggled overall this season, posting a 5.63 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 56 innings. He's set to face the Cardinals in Atlanta this week for his next start.
