Alonso, deGrom send Mets to win

New York cruised to a 10-2 victory Tuesday night at Atlanta to improve to 35-38 overall and 15-24 on the road. Pete Alonso led the Mets as he went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two walks, three runs and three RBIs. Jeff McNeil finished 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and three runs scored. Michael Conforto ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Jacob deGrom picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over 8 1/3 innings. Steven Matz will start tonight for New York as he enters with a 5-4 record, 3.93 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 72 strikeouts over 68 2/3 innings.

Braves avoid shutout

Freddie Freeman and Josh Donaldson both hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night in a 10-2 home loss against New York. Donaldson ended the contest 2-for-4 with the homer, while the home run was the only hit for Freeman in four at-bats. Dansby Swanson finished 1-for-3 with a double. Julio Teheran took the loss as he gave up six earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks over five innings. Max Fried starts tonight for Atlanta as he comes in with a 7-3 record, 4.11 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 70 strikeouts over 76 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are 5-1 in their last six games versus the NL East. New York is 1-4 in the last five Matz road starts.

Atlanta

The Braves are 10-2 in their last 12 games overall. Atlanta is 6-1 in the last seven Fried starts.

Prediction:

Fried really hasn't been all that good dating back to his second start in May and Matz has a history of solid starts against the Braves. New York found its offense yesterday and I think it gets another nice output here. As long as Matz is sufficient, the Mets have a good shot here.
