Wheeler throttled in loss
New York lost by a 12-3 score Monday night to open a series at Atlanta. The Mets surrendered four runs in the seventh and three in the eighth as the game was busted open. Robinson Cano paced the Mets offense as he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Amed Rosario finished 2-for-4 with a double and scored two runs. Pete Alonso ended the game 1-for-4 with an RBI. Zack Wheeler suffered the loss as he gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over six innings, striking out four and walking two. Coming into tonight, deGrom has a 3-6 record with a 3.38 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 102 strikeouts over 82 2/3 innings.
Braves offense stay hot
Atlanta posted a 12-3 victory at home Monday night against New York to improve to 43-30 overall and 23-16 at home. Brian McCann helped lead the Braves offense as he ended the game 3-for-3 with a home run, two walks, two runs and two RBIs. Ozzie Albies was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Mike Soroka picked up the win as he gave up three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Julio Teheran will start tonight for Atlanta as he enters with a 5-4 record, 2.92 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 76 strikeouts over 83 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Mets are 7-2 in their last nine Tuesday games. New York is 0-4 in the last four deGrom starts.
The Braves are 9-1 in their last 10 home games. Atlanta is 4-0 in the last Teheran starts.
This should be a fantastic pitching matchup, but I trust the Braves more at home with how much they're rolling. The Mets again can't seem to support deGrom and I'll bank on that happening again.
