Angels split in Tampa

Los Angeles is coming off a four-game split at Tampa this weekend, including a 6-5 loss on Sunday. The Angels are 35-37 on the season, 16-19 on the road and 34-32 with the under. Luis Garcia gets the start for the Angels this evening. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.68 ERA.

The Angels are struggling on the mound, but respectable at the plate. The team has a 5.04 ERA and a 1.36 team WHIP this season, though the offense is averaging 5.04 runs per game while hitting .257 as a squad. Mike Trout is leading the team with 16 doubles, 19 home runs and 46 RBI. Kole Calhoun is adding 13 doubles, 14 home runs and 36 RBI.

Blue Jays struggling

Despite a 12-0 win over the Astros on Sunday, the Blue Jays have lost seven of their last 10 games coming into this series. Toronto is 26-45 on the season, 12-22 at home and 35-33 with the under. Edwin Jackson will be getting the start for Toronto tonight. He is 1-4 on the season with a 10.22 ERA.

The Blue Jays are struggling at the plate this season, averaging just 3.94 runs per game while hitting a league-worst .223 as a team. On the mound, Toronto has a 4.71 team ERA with a 1.43 team WHIP. Justin Smoak has been leading the team with 12 home runs and 34 RBI, but he is questionable to play today with a hamstring injury. Freddy Galvis is adding 13 doubles, 10 home runs and 30 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Angels have won four of their last five games following a loss and 8-3 in their last 11 against AL East opponents.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 2-10 in their last 12 games following a win and 1-8 in their last nine series openers.

Prediction:

The Jays don’t much appeal for tonight. Their leading RBI guy is questionable to play and they have a really struggling pitcher on the mound in Jackson. He has given up at least six runs in four of his six appearances this year. Now, Garcia isn’t a starter, but he has appeared in 28 games. His numbers are what they are, as he has 17 walks with 17 strikeouts. However, he is facing a poor lineup and I think the Angels are going to put up a good number of runs on Jackson and the Toronto pitching.

MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -160
