Indians hold on for win

Cleveland had a lopsided win over the Tigers on Friday, but the Indians then earned a 4-2 win over the Tigers on Saturday. The Tribe are 36-33 on the season, 16-16 on the road and 40-28 with the under. Cleveland has Trevor Bauer getting the start today. He is 4-6 on the year with a 3.71 ERA.

The Tribe put up three runs in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie on Saturday. They then held on for the win as Shane Bieber pitched 7.2 innings and allowed the two earned runs with 12 strikeouts. He is 6-2 on the year. Brad Hand got his 20th save by pitching the ninth. At the plate, Oscar Mercado and Kevin Plawecki each had two hits in the victory.

Tigers drop another

Detroit has lost five of its last six games following the 4-2 loss to the Indians on Saturday. The Tigers are now 25-42 on the season, 11-23 at home and 35-28 with the under. Detroit has Spencer Turnbull getting the start today. He is 3-5 on the season with a 2.78 ERA.

The Tigers had just six hits on Saturday as they continued their woes at the plate. Miguel Cabrera and Niko Goodrum each had a double while Brandon Dixon drove in both runs. Gregory Soto had pitched four scoreless innings to help his inflated ERA, but the Tigers pen gave up four runs over the next five. Nick Ramirez took the loss, as he gave up three runs over three innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Cleveland

The Indians are just 2-7 in their last nine Sunday games and 1-4 in Bauer’s last five starts.

Detroit

The Tigers are 16-36 in their last 52 home games and 1-5 in their last six division games.

Prediction:

Turnbull has been a bright spot for the Tigers on the mound this year, but he doesn’t get much for run support or bullpen help. Bauer hasn’t been outstanding, but he has been mostly good enough to keep Cleveland in games. I think his effort should be enough today, as the Tigers aren’t likely to touch him up much and the Detroit bullpen is something the Indians can feast on late.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -160
