Rizzo lifts Cubs in ninth

Anthony Rizzo hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Saturday night to send Chicago to a 2-1 victory at Los Angeles. It was the only hit for Rizzo in four at-bats. Addison Russell ended the contest 1-for-3, while Kyle Schwarber finished 1-for-4. Yu Darvish got the no-decision but kept the Cubs in it as he gave up one earned run on two hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Kyle Ryan picked up the win as he gave up one hit while not allowing a run in one-third of an inning of relief. Pedro Strop did not allow a hit while striking out two and walking one in the ninth to get the save. Jose Quintana starts tonight for Chicago as he enters with a 4-6 record, 3.89 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 69 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings.

Dodgers held to one run

Los Angeles allowed two runs in the top of the ninth inning Saturday night in a 2-1 home loss to Chicago. Alex Verdugo was 1-for-4 and provided the only Dodgers run with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Max Muncy ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk. Chris Taylor had a single in a pinch-hit at-bat. Kenley Jansen took the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning. Hyun-Jin Ryu will start tonight for LA as he comes in with a 9-1 record, 1.36 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with 77 strikeouts over 86 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Chicago

The Cubs are 6-2 in their last eight Sunday games. Chicago is 3-9 in the last 12 Quintana road starts.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 45-15 in their last 60 home games. Los Angeles is 6-1 in the last seven Ryu starts.

Prediction:

Ryu has been too good for me to fade at home. Chicago got the win last night, but has struggled on the road this season and is facing a team that rarely wins at home. The Cubs got theirs yesterday to avoid the sweep, but I don't see them winning the series.
