Cubs blow lead in defeat

Chicago led  2-0 through one inning last night but ultimately fell 5-3 at Los Angeles to drop to 38-31 overall and 14-20 on the road. Anthony Rizzo helped pace the Cubs offense as he went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Kris Bryant finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Willson Contreras was 2-for-4 with a double. Kyle Hendricks took the loss as he gave up five earned runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking two. Yu Darvish starts tonight for Chicago as he enters with a 2-3 record, 4.98 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 81 strikeouts over 72 1/3 innings.

Turner, Beaty homer in win

Los Angeles overcame an early deficit to win its seventh straight home game by a count of 5-3 Friday night over Chicago. Matt Beaty helped lead the Dodgers offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs. Justin Turner was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. Rich Hill helped his own cause as he finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Hill picked up the win as he gave up three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none. Kenley Jansen struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning for his 20th save of the season. Walker Buehler will start tonight as he comes in with a 7-1 record, 3.35 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 75 1/3 innings of work.

Prediction:

Darvish returns to the city where he had a nightmare World Series a couple years ago and it won't be easy tonight against a loaded Dodgers offense. Couple that with the fact Buehler has been lights out lately and I'm definitely siding with Los Angeles here. There's not much to criticize with the Dodgers these days. It's a deep, loaded team that you can count on especially at home.
