Phillies shut out by D-Backs
Philadelphia lost by a count of 2-0 at home Wednesday afternoon against Arizona to drop to 38-30 overall and 23-14 at home. The Phillies were held to three hits in the game with Nick Williams leading the way as he was 2-for-3 with a double. J.T. Realmuto finished 1-for-3. Zach Eflin was the tough-luck losing pitcher as he gave up two earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over eight innings of work. Nick Pivetta draws the start tonight for Philadelphia as he enters with a 4-1 record, 4.93 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 37 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings.
Braves extend win streak to seven
Atlanta earned a 6-5 home win Thursday afternoon over Pittsburgh to win its winning streak to seven games. Freddie Freeman ended the contest 2-for-5 with two RBIs to help pace the Braves offense. Ozzie Albies finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 2-for-5 and scored a run. Julio Teheran picked up the win on the mound as he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Luke Jackson earned his 10th save of the season as he gave up one unearned run on two hits with no strikeouts or walks over one inning. Max Fried will take the mound tonight for Atlanta as he comes in with a 7-3 record, 3.75 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 66 strikeouts over 72 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games. Philadelphia is 0-5 in the last five Pivetta road starts.
Atlanta
The Braves are 6-0 in their last six home games. Atlanta is 5-1 in the last six Fried starts.
Prediction:
I've always believed in the raw of ability of Pivetta and based on his last two starts, he might be starting to put it together. This will be a tough task, but the Braves are due for a loss and Philadelphia wants to stay within an arm's reach in the NL East race. Fried has slowed down after an awesome April and I'm fading him here.
