Yankees split DH with Mets

After winning the opener of a doubleheader Tuesday by a count of 12-5 over the Mets, the Yankees dropped game two by a 10-4 score. The Yankees trailed 6-0 in the third inning and could not recover. Brett Gardner helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run. D.J. LeMahieu and Gary Sanchez both went 2-for-5 with a run scored. James Paxton suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks over 2 2/3 innings. J.A. Happ will start for New York tonight as he enters with a 6-3 record, 4.48 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 59 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings.

Chicago earned a 7-5 home win over Washington Tuesday night to improve to 32-34 overall and 18-15 at home. Welington Castillo helped pace the White Sox offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a grand slam. Eloy Jimenez was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. James McCann finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs. Evan Marshall picked up the win in relief as he struck out two over 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. Alex Colome earned his 14th save as he allowed one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts and two walks over 1 1/3 innings. MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven games following an off day. New York is 5-0 in the last five Happ starts in a series opener.

Chicago

The White Sox are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games. Chicago is 7-2 in its last nine home games.

Prediction:

Happ has been giving up a lot of home runs this season, but typically has been dependable. The same can't be said for Nova and his bloated numbers. Look for Happ to get ample run support even if he gives up a long ball or two. I'm taking the Yankees here.
