Blue Jays drop fifth straight

Toronto lost its fifth straight game on Tuesday night, suffering a 4-2 defeat to the Orioles. The Jays are 23-43 on the season, 11-21 on the road and 35-29 with the under. Toronto has Edwin Jackson on the mound today. He is 0-4 on the season with an 11.90 ERA.

The Blue Jays were held to just five hits in Tuesday’s loss. Trent Thornton look the loss, as he allowed three runs over five innings. He is now 1-5 on the season. Eric Sogard led the Jays at the plate with two hits and a RBI, including his sixth home run of the season. Randal Grichuk added the other RBI in the loss.

Orioles looking for back-to-back wins

Baltimore opened this series with Toronto with a 4-2 victory. The Orioles are just 3-6 in their last nine games. Baltimore is now 21-45 on the season, 9-23 at home and 34-30 with the under. The Orioles are turning to David Hess today. He is 1-8 on the season with a 7.08 ERA.

The Orioles put up 11 hits on Tuesday night, but stranded nine runners. Still, they got the win thanks to five innings of 1-run pitching from John Means. He allowed just four hits and had seven strikeouts. Means has six wins on the year. Mychal Givens got his sixth save of the year with a perfect ninth. Jonathan Villar had two doubles and drove in a run at the plate while Anthony Santander had three hits and drove in another run.

MLB Betting Trends

Toronto

The Blue Jays are just 8-26 in their last 34 games overall and 8-20 in their last 28 games following a loss.

Baltimore

The Orioles are 17-41 in their last 58 home games and 24-55 in their last 79 Game 2’s of a series.

Prediction:

Both teams have been a mess this season and both starters have been a mess as well. Jackson has given up 26 earned runs over 19.2 innings. The Orioles have lost nine of Hess’ last 10 starts. He has given up at least four runs in five straight starts. Despite all of that, Baltimore is at home and I think that is the only definable difference between the two right now. The Orioles should find a way to win, as Jackson is a real mess and likely to get beat up right away.

MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles -110
