Heyward homers in loss
Chicago lost by a count of 10-3 at Colorado Tuesday night to drop to 37-29 overall and 13-18 on the road. Jason Heyward paced the Cubs offensively as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Addison Russell went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Albert Almora Jr. was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jose Quintana took the loss as he surrendered four runs (three earned) over 4 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking four. Cole Hamels draws the start today for Chicago as he enters with a 5-2 record, 3.24 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 74 strikeouts over 77 2/3 innings.
Lambert bottles up Cubs
Colorado picked up a 10-3 home victory Tuesday night over the Cubs as they improved to 35-31 overall and 20-12 at home. Rookie Peter Lambert was strong on the mound to earn the win as he gave up one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks over five innings of work. Charlie Blackmon led the Rockies as he ended the contest 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Daniel Murphy was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ian Desmond finished 3-for-3 with a walk and a run. Chris Iannetta went 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs and an RBI. Antonio Senzatela will start today for Colorado as he comes in with a 5-4 record, 4.95 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 33 strikeouts over 60 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
The Cubs are 7-1 in their last seven Wednesday games. Chicago is 9-3 in the last 12 Hamels starts.
The Rockies are 12-4 in their last 16 games overall. Colorado is 52-25 in its last 77 home games.
Senzatela has been much better as of late, but Hamels is savvy and should navigate Coors Field better than most. I think the Cubs touch up Senzatela as he has a low strikeout rate and won't be fooling anyone today. The Cubs have some big bats and they are due for a big game this series. Taking the road favorites this afternoon.
