D-Backs use long ball to earn win
Arizona began Monday night's game with three home runs and hit eight of the record-setting 13 total in its 13-8 victory at Philadelphia. Jarrod Dyson helped pace the Diamondbacks as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Ketel Marte went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. David Peralta was 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk. Eduardo Escobar finished 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three runs and five RBIs. Alex Avila was 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Ildemaro Vargas finished 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Zack Godley picked up the win in relief as he gave up two hits with one strikeouts and two walks in 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Jon Duplantier will start tonight for Arizona as he comes in with a 1-0 record, 3.27 ERA and 1.14 ERA with 23 strikeouts over 22 innings.
Phillies hit five homers in defeat
Philadelphia fell by a count of 13-8 Tuesday night at home against Arizona to drop to 37-29 overall and 22-13 at home. Jean Segura helped lead the Phillies as he finished 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBIs. Rhys Hoskins was 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Jay Bruce went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. Scott Kingery finished 3-for-5 with two solo home runs, a triple and three runs scored. Jerad Eickhoff took the loss as he surrendered seven earned runs on five hits with two strikeounts and two walks over three-plus innings. Jake Arrieta will start tonight for Philadelphia as he is 5-5 with a 4.29 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 79 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in their last four road games. Arizona is 4-0 in its last four games versus a right-handed starter.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Philadelphia is 2-5 in its last seven games versus the NL West.
Prediction:
Last night's game was crazy from a home run perspective and Arrieta has given up 14 home runs over 79 2/3 innings this season. Duplantier is inexperienced and might also struggle to keep the ball in the yard today. These two teams have the power bats and I'd rather side with the over tonight until I see proof that things are cooling down.
