A's stumble to two losses
Oakland fell by scores of 10-5 and 3-1 Saturday in its day-night doubleheader at Texas to drop to 32-33 overall and 14-18 on the road. In game two, Mark Canha provided the only offense as he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Robbie Grossman finished 1-for-3 plus a walk. Ramon Laureano also went 1-for-3. Chris Bassitt took the loss as he allowed three earned run on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. Sampson spins gem

Sampson allowed one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over nine spectacular innings. Danny Santana paced the Texas offense as he went 2-for-3 wth a triple, a run and an RBI. Jeff Mathis was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ronald Guzman finished 1-for-3 and scored a run. MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The Athletics are 4-1 in the last five Montas starts. Oakland is 9-2 in its last 11 road games.
Texas
The Rangers are 10-3 in their last 13 home games. Texas is 6-2 in its last eight Sunday games.
Prediction:
Montas has come into his own this season and has been a steadying force in the A's rotation. After a pair of losses, he'll be needed for a strong outing today. He should do a better job at limiting the Texas offense than Smyly will with Oakland's. The Athletics are favored for good reason as Smyly hasn't shown his old self on the mound this season.
