Gibson hit hard in loss

Kyle Gibson suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Nelson Cruz paced the Twins offense as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk. C.J. Cron finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Jorge Polanco was also 1-for-4 with a double and and an RBI. Jake Odorizzi draws the start today for Minnesota as he enters with an 8-2 record, 1.96 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 70 strikeouts over 64 1/3 innings.

Detroit pulled away late Saturday evening in a 9-3 home victory over Minnesota. JaCoby Jones ended the contest 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs to pace the Tigers offense. Christin Stewart finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks. Harold Castro went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Nick Ramirez picked up the win in relief as he gave up one earned run on three hits in three innings with three strikeouts and three walks. MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are 48-21 in their last 69 games overall. Minnesota is 4-0 in the last four Odorizzi starts on the road.

Detroit

The Tigers are 17-35 in their last 52 home games. Detroit is 2-5 in the last seven Carpenter home starts.

Prediction:

Odorizzi has been killing it all season and I see no reason why that changes this afternoon. He has been much less prone to the long ball this season and spotting all his pitches well. I don't want to fade a pitcher with this much confidence, especially when going against an opposing pitcher who I have very little stock in in Carpenter. He's pitched better lately, but I think Carpenter will be hit hard today. Going heavy on the Twins.
