Colorado Rockies Fantasy Spin
Jon Gray fired 6 2/3 scoreless frames in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday. Gray struck out seven batters and was extremely efficient, needing only 87 pitches (53 strikes) to spin six-plus stellar frames. He limited the Blue Jays’ offense to a trio of base runners, scattering two hits, over six innings before he was lifted after issuing back-to-back walks with two outs in the seventh. The mercurial 27-year-old righty will carry a 4.11 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 75/28 K/BB ratio into a tasty matchup against the Mets in New York on Friday.
New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Steven Matz allowed five runs on eight hits over six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Matz had a tough first inning, serving up a long leadoff homer to Ketel Marte and a two-run shot to Eduardo Escobar, but he did settle down to put up zeroes until the D'backs got two more in the fifth. The start was Matz's worst since a disastrous outing against the Phillies in mid-April, and with the loss he dropped to 4-4 with a 3.97 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 56/18 K/BB ratio in 56 2/3 innings overall this year. He'll look to get back on track Saturday when the Rockies visit Citi Field.
