Piscotty helps A's past Angels

Oakland secured a 7-4 victory on getaway day Thursday at Los Angeles to improve to 31-31 overall and 13-15 on the road. Stephen Piscotty ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs to pace the offense. Khris Davis went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Ramon Laureano finished 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Mike Fiers picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out five and walking none. Brett Anderson will draw the start tonight for Oakland as he enters with a 6-4 record, 3.95 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 34 strikeouts over 66 innings of work. 

Rangers edge past O's

Texas eked out a 4-3 victory Thursday over visiting Baltimore to move to 32-28 overall and 22-10 at home. Ronald Guzman helped lead the Rangers offense as he ended the game 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Hunter Pence finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Delino DeShields Jr. went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored. Ariel Jurado earned the win as he gave up three earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six innings of work. Lance Lynn gets the start tonight for Texas as he comes in with a 7-4 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 77 strikeouts over 74 innings.

Prediction:

Despite his miniscule strikeout rate and high-ish WHIP, Anderson is somehow getting it done for the A's more often than not. The Rangers have wins in their last four versus lefty starters, but still have a tendency to struggle against soft-tossing LHP. With how inconsistent Lynn can be, it actually concerns me he has been pretty darn good as of late. I'm banking on a subpar showing from the Rangers offense coupled with a poor Lynn outing. Oakland has been good on the road lately and I'm betting on it continuing here.
