Arizona prevailed 3-2 in 11 innings at home Wednesday versus NL West foe Los Angeles to improve to 31-32 overall and 14-16 at home. David Peralta provided the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 11th. He ended the contest 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jarrod Dyson finished 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Eduardo Escobar ended the contest 1-for-5 with a triple and a run scored. Zack Godley earned the win in relief as he threw one perfect inning with one strikeout. Merrill Kelly draws the start tonight for the Diamondbacks as he enters with a 4-5 record, 4.41 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 67 1/3 innings.

Blue Jays fall at home

Toronto lost 6-2 at home Thursday night versus the Yankees to drop to 23-39 overall and 12-19 at home. Eric Sogard paced the Blue Jays offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run plus a double. Randal Grichuk was 2-for-4. Justin Smoak finished 1-for-4 with a run scored. Edwin Jackson suffered the loss as he surrendered six runs (two earned) on six hits over 3 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking two. Marcus Stroman will start tonight for Toronto as he comes in with a 3-7 record, 2.84 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 59 strikeouts over 76 innings.

Prediction:

I feel like this is way to big of a price on Toronto here. Sure, Stroman has some name recognition and is having a decent season. But he is far from invincible and Kelly gained confidence from his last start. The Arizona offense can rake when all the parts are working and they should get on the board enough tonight to support Kelly. This is as much of a fade on a poor Toronto team than betting with confidence on the Diamondbacks. But the plus money makes me do it without hesitation.
