Marlins take first two
Miami earned an 8-3 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday after having picked up a 16-0 win on Tuesday. Miami is 23-36 on the season, 12-18 on the road and 30-26 with the under. The Marlins have Caleb Smith on the mound today. He is 3-3 on the season with a 3.10 ERA.
The Marlins continued their impressive series on Wednesday by jumping out early on Milwaukee’s pitching. Brian Anderson had three hits and four RBI to lead the way, including his seventh home run of the season. Starlin Castro and Bryan Holaday each drove in two runs in the win. Sandy Alcantara got the win on the mound. He threw seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits to move to 3-5 on the season.
Brewers fall again
Milwaukee has dropped the first two games of the series by a combined score of 24-3. Milwaukee is 34-28 on the season, 18-13 at home and 34-27 with the under. The Brewers have Freddy Peralta on the mound today. He is 2-2 on the season with a 5.68 ERA.
Jimmy Nelson struggled in his first outing of 2019, lasting just three innings while giving up five runs and walking three. Yasmani Grandal had two hits and two RBI to lead the Brewers at the plate while Orlando Arcia doubled for one of the team’s eight hits on Wednesday.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 10-2 in their last 12 games following a win and 4-1 in their last five games against a right-handed starter.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 5-2 in their last seven games following a loss and 16-7 in their last 23 games after losing the first two games in a series.
Prediction:
Peralta hasn’t exactly been outstanding. He has not been making starts as of late and has given up multiple runs in seven of his 10 appearances this year. Smith has struggled as well, but I like the run Miami is on right now. The Marlins are getting some great hitting as of late and they can continue that against Peralta today. Miami may not have great pitching of its own today, but I think the Marlins will have enough run support to overcome it.
MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins +170
