White Sox not enough against Washington

Chicago suffered a 9-5 loss at Washington last night for its second loss in three games. Chicago is 29-31 on the season, 12-17 on the road and 31-28 with the under. Dylan Covey is getting the start for Chicago today. He is 1-4 on the season with a 4.73 ERA.

Chicago actually jumped out to a 5-0 lead on Washington last night, but saw the lead disappear over the middle of the game, and go away for good in a six-run fifth inning. Reynaldo Lopez took the loss by allowing six runs over four innings while Josh Osich gave up three runs over one inning of work. Yoan Moncada had his 11th home run of the season in the loss while Jose Abreu had two hits and Yolmer Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.

Nats win third straight

Washington has won three straight and five of six following Tuesday’s win over the White Sox at home, 9-5. Washington is 27-33 on the season, 14-15 at home and 31-25 with the over. Anibal Sanchez will make the start for Washington today. He is 1-6 on the season with a 4.47 ERA.

The Nationals managed a win on Tuesday despite a poor outing from Stephen Strasburg. He gave up five runs over five innings with three walks and six strikeouts. Still, he got the win to move to 6-3 on the year. Sean Doolittle got his 13th save of the season by recording the final two outs. Anthony Rendon had his 11th home run of the season and drove in five runs to lead Washington at the plate. Howie Kendrick and Victor Robles each had two hits and drove in two runs as well.

MLB Betting Trends

Chicago

The White Sox are 16-35 in their last 51 interleague games and 6-22 in their last 28 interleague road games.

Washington

The Nationals are 4-1 in their last five home games and 6-2 in their last eight against a team with a losing record.

Prediction:

Covey hasn’t been great, but he is usually competitive. The problem with his starts are his bullpen has imploded or he hasn’t had much run support when he does pitch well. Sanchez isn’t a great starter in his own right, but he hasn’t allowed a run in three of his last four outings. Washington has a little more help behind Sanchez and I think the Nats’ hitting will be able to get to Covey. I like Washington at home once again.

MLB Prediction: Washington Nationals -190
