McCutchen hurt in loss
Philadelphia outfielder Andrew McCutchen was injured Monday night in an 8-2 defeat Monday night at San Diego, spraining his knee while caught in a rundown. He is out indefinitely with an MRI pending. J.T. Realmuto helped lead the offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Rhys Hoskins was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. Jay Bruce was 1-for-3 off the bench in his Phillies debut. Aaron Nola suffered the loss as he gave up six earned runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking three. Jerad Eickhoff will start tonight for Philadelphia as he comes in with a 2-3 record, 4.10 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings.
Machado hits grand slam to guide Padres to win
Manny Machado hit a grand slam in the sixth inning Monday night in an 8-2 victory at home over Philadelphia. It was the only hit for Machado in four at-bats, while he also drew a walk. Franmil Reyes finished 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Wil Myers ended the contest 2-for-2 with two walks plus a run. Eric Lauer earned the win as he allowed one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks over six innings. Chris Paddack will start tonight's contest as he comes in with a 4-3 record, 2.40 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with 62 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 0-5 in their last five road games. Philadelphia is 0-6 in the last six Eickhoff starts on a Tuesday.
San Diego
The Padres are 5-2 in their last seven home games. San Diego is 4-1 in the last five Paddack home starts.
Prediction:
Philadelphia is reeling from the loss of McCutchen for the indefinite future and things won't be easy tonight against the rookie phenom Paddock. Eickhoff has been decent this season, but he won't get much run support here most likely and I think there are too many obstacles to overcome especially with McCutchen not available to set the table at the top of the lineup.MLB DAILY PREDICTION: SAN DIEGO PADRES -145
