Braves take down Tigers
Atlanta earned a 7-4 home victory Sunday afternoon over Detroit to improve to 32-27 overall and 16-15 at home. The Braves blew a 3-0 lead in the eighth inning, but scored four in the bottom half to retake a 7-3 advantage. Dansby Swanson helped pace the Atlanta offense as he went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. Freddie Freeman was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Charlie Culberson finished 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit RBI triple. Touki Toussaint picked up the win in relief as he retired the only batter he faced. Max Fried will draw the start tonight as he enters with a 7-3 record, 3.19 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 56 strikeouts over 62 innings.
Pirates doubled up by Pirates
Pittsburgh lost by a count of 4-2 at home Sunday afternoon against Milwaukee to fall to 28-30 overall and 11-17 at home. Bryan Reynolds helped lead the Pirates offense as he ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double. Josh Bell went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Adam Frazier was 1-for-4 with a double plus a run scored. Jordan Lyles suffered the loss as he allowed four earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Steven Brault will start tonight as he comes in with a 2-1 record, 5.87 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 26 strikeouts over 30 2.3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The over is 4-0-1 in the last five Braves games overall. The under is 6-2 in the last eight Atlanta road games.
Pittsburgh
The over is 14-3 in the last 17 Pirates homes games. The over is 3-1-1 in the last five Brault home starts.
Prediction:
I don't trust Brault to limit the Braves' offensive production, while Pittsburgh has played a number of high-scoring games at home lately. Atlanta's offense enters in good form and I expect that to continue here as PNC Park has been a little more hitter-friendly this season. Take the over.
