Phillies doubled up in series opener

Philadelphia lost by a count of 6-3 Friday night in its series opener at Los Angeles to drop to 33-24 overall and 13-13 on the road. Andrew McCutchen helped pace the Phillies offense as he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Scott Kingery was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rhys Hoskins finished 1-for-4 and scored a run. Jake Arrieta suffered the loss as he surendered five earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk over five innings of work. Philadelphia will employ an opener for tonight's game in Jose Alvarez before turning to Cole Irvin and possibly Vince Velasquez.

Dodgers hit four homers in win

Los Angeles picked up a 6-3 home victory over Philadelphia Friday night to improve to 39-19 overall and 23-7 at home. The score was tied at 2-2 until the Dodgers scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go ahead for good. Enrique Hernandez helped lead the Dodgers offense as he was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Joc Pederson finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run plus two runs scored. Corey Seager was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Max Muncy ended the contest 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Kenta Maeda earned the win as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Kershaw draws the start tonight for LA as he enters with a 5-0 record, 3.46 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 52 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Philadelphia

The Phillies are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. Philadelphia is 4-9 in its last 13 games versus the NL West.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 41-14 in their last 55 home games. Los Angeles is 47-12 in the last 59 Kershaw home starts.

Prediction:

Los Angeles has basically no holes on its team and although Kershaw isn't in vintage form, he's still one of the better arms in baseball. I can't trust the Phillies' collection of pitchers against this power-packed offense while likely not receiving much run support. I'm all over the Dodgers here.
