Moustakas homers twice in win

Milwaukee broke it open late Thursday night in an 11-5 victory at Pittsburgh to improve to 32-25 overall and 14-14 on the road. Mike Moustakas paced the Brewers offense as he finished 4-for-6 with two home runs and four RBIs. Yasmani Grandal ended the contest 4-for-6 with a solo home run and a double. Eric Thames was 1-for-4 with a solo home run plus a walk. Ben Gamel ended the contest 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs scored. Lorenzo Cain went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a run and four RBIs. Chase Anderson picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Jhoulys Chacin will start tonight as he enters with a 3-6 record, 4.88 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 42 strikeouts over 55 1/3 innings.

Pirates drop to 10-15 at home

Pittsburgh allowed six runs over the final two innings Thursday night in an 11-5 defeat at home versus Milwaukee. Joe Musgrove suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs over 11 hits with six strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Colin Moran helped lead the offense as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Melky Cabrera was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit two-run double. Elias Diaz finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chris Archer starts tonight for the Pirates as he comes in with a 1-5 record, 5.75 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 40 strikeouts over 40 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 3-7 in their last 10 games versus the NL Central. Milwaukee is 0-5 in the last five Chacin road starts.

Pittsburgh

The Pirates are 5-3 in their last eight games versus the NL Central. Pittsburgh is 0-6 in the last six Archer starts.

Prediction:

Chacin pitched with some extra luck last season and this season it is going the opposite way for him, but I do trust him to have things turn in a positive direction as the season progresses. I don't know if I can say the same for Archer, who still strikes out a batter per inning but hasn't really figured much out with his struggles the last couple seasons. He was great his first couple starts this year, but now it's been a downward trend the last month-and-a-half. The Brewers' lineup is full of power and I don't think Archer escapes without another poor start.
