Astros hit the road

Houston has been one of the top teams in the majors, but the Astros are struggling on the road somewhat as they are set to begin a long road trip. Houston is now 37-20 on the season, 15-12 on the road and 32-22 with the under. The Astros have Brad Peacock on the mound today. He is 5-2 on the season with a 3.19 ERA.

The Astros have been great on the mound and at the plate. Houston is averaging 5.18 runs per game while hitting a league-best .274 average. The Astros also have a 3.44 team ERA and a 1.06 team WHIP, which is tops in the league. They also lead the league in strikeouts with 563. The team is still without some top players in Jose Altuve, George Springer and Carlos Correa due to injuries. Michael Brantley is the leading hitter with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 36 RBI while Alex Bregman has 17 home runs and 38 RBI.

Athletics drop two straight

Oakland had its long win streak come to an end earlier this week when it lost back-to-back games at home to the Angels. The Athletics are 29-27 on the season, 18-12 at home and 28-28 with the over/under total. Oakland has Mike Fiers on the mound tonight. He is 5-3 on the season with a 5.00 ERA.

The Athletics are putting up 4.96 runs per game on offense while hitting .247 at the plate. On the mound, Oakland has a 4.18 team ERA with a 1.29 team WHIP. Khris Davis is questionable to play today due to a hip injury. He has missed the last seven games. He had 12 home runs and 29 RBI prior to the injury. Matt Chapman is leading the team with 13 doubles, 14 home runs and 32 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 5-1 in their last six games following a loss and 11-3 in their last 14 games against a right-handed starter.

Oakland

The Athletics are 10-2 in Fiers’ last 12 home starts and 50-23 in their last 73 home games.

Prediction:

Fiers has been pretty consistent the last month. He hasn’t been lights out, but he has kept Oakland in each game. Peacock, on the other hand, has allowed just one run over his last four starts, a total of 23 innings. Fiers did struggle in his last outing against Houston. Despite the Astros having injuries, they still have capable hitting and a great bullpen. Oakland can’t quite say the same, especially if Davis remains out.

MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -115
