Boston falls to Cleveland

The Red Sox are coming off back-to-back losses at home to Cleveland the last two days and Boston has lost four of its last six. Boston is now 29-27 on the season, 15-15 on the road and 32-22 with the over. Chris Sale gets the start today for Boston. He is just 1-6 on the season with a 4.19 ERA.

Boston has been able to put up the runs this season, averaging 5.41 per game while hitting .260 as a team. However, the pitching has been lackluster this year. The Red Sox have a team ERA of 4.43 and a team WHIP of 1.28. Xander Bogaerts is leading the team with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 37 RBI. J.D. Martinez is adding 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 31 RBI.

Yankees best the Padres

New York has won eight of its last 10 games coming into today after winning two of three at home against San Diego. The Yankees are now 36-19 on the season, 19-11 at home and 29-23 with the over. J.A. Happ gets the start for New York tonight. He is 4-3 on the season with a 5.09 ERA.

The Yankees have been sound on the mound and at the plate this year. New York is averaging 5.38 runs per game while hitting .258 as a team. The pitching has a 3.72 team ERA with a 1.22 team WHIP. Luke Voit leads the team with 14 home runs and 38 RBI while Gary Sanchez has 17 home runs and 33 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox have won 12 of their last 17 road games and seven of their last 10 following a loss.

New York

The Yankees are 41-16 in their last 57 series openers and 44-15 in their last 59 home games against a winning team.

Prediction:

Sale hasn’t had a very good 2019 thus far, but his numbers are coming down. He has dropped his ERA by over 3.00 in the last month and has continued to rack up strikeouts. Happ can’t quite say the same. He has given up at least three runs in his last three starts. However, he has been benefitted by a lot of run support. I don’t think he will get that run support today with Sale pitching well. Look for Boston’s hitters to beat up on Happ and lead them to a win.

MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox -160
