Los Angeles Angels Fantasy Spin
Griffin Canning pitched five innings of one-run ball Friday against the Rangers. Canning left with a two-run lead, but it didn't last. If he had been more efficient, perhaps he would have picked up a win tonight, but he had to leave after throwing 95 pitches in five innings. The rookie has a nice 3.42 ERA, and it looks like he'll get to stick in the rotation even though Andrew Heaney is coming back.
Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Daniel Mengden was lifted after allowing one run in four innings Friday against the Mariners. Mengden walked five and threw 99 pitches in the four innings, so he didn't get a chance to go for the win in a game the A's were leading 4-1. Facing a rather easy schedule, Mengden has a 3.31 ERA in three starts since being called up. He's not an All-Star or anything close, but he really should have been in Oakland's rotation all along this year.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are just 1-4 in their last five games played on Wednesday.
Oakland
The A’s are 5-1 in Mengden’s last six starts and are 7-3 in his last 10 outings at home.
Prediction:
The A’s are 7-1 in Mengden’s last eight starts versus an opponent with a losing record and have won four of his last five outings when he’s coming off four days of rest. The Angels, meanwhile, are just 1-4 in their last five games when playing the third game of a series and are 5-21 in their last 26 road games when facing an opponent with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
The Pick: Oakland A’s -102
