Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Tuesday that he's preparing for the possibility that Ben Zobrist (personal) might not return this season. "I have to think that way, absolutely," Maddon told reporters ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Astros. "I hope that’s not the case. But he’s at the point now where if he chose to come back, it’s going to take him a while to get back up to speed, too. We have to mentally be prepared that we will not have him." It has been three weeks since Zobrist left the team to deal with a personal family issue, later revealed to be ongoing divorce proceedings from his wife Julianna. The 38-year-old utilityman is an impending free agent.
Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Jose Altuve has been pulled off his minor league rehab assignment due to "fatigue and soreness" around his surgically-repaired right knee. Altuve was on the verge of returning from a left hamstring strain, but he experienced this renewed knee discomfort after playing in his second minor league rehab game at Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. He's being evaluated by doctors back in Houston and there should be more information available on Wednesday. The star second baseman had surgery on his right knee last October, shortly after the Astros were eliminated from the American League Championship Series.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 1-5 in their last six games overall.
Houston
The Astros have won 38 of their last 54 games at home.
Prediction:
The Astros have won six of Miley’s last seven starts and are a perfect 5-0 in his last five outings at home. They’re also 4-0 in his last four home outings versus a team with a winning record and is 4-1 in his last five starts coming off five days of rest. On the other side, the Cubs continue to struggle and while they have been profitable when Hendricks starts (4-1 in his last five outings), I’m going to back Houston tonight.
The Pick: Houston Astros -101
