San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Michael Yastrzemski went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the Giants’ loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Yastrzemski, the grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, singled to left in the second inning to record his first major-league hit, but was thrown out after rounding the base too far. He also singled in the fifth and led off the seventh with a double, eventually coming around to score on an RBI single by Joe Panik later in the frame. The 28-year-old outfielder made his big-league debut for the Giants earlier this weekend after spending nearly six years in the minors between San Francisco and Baltimore.
Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Curtis Granderson went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts from the leadoff spot Monday against the Nationals. Granderson has always been streaky and the Marlins have nothing to lose from sticking with him, but one wonders if they'll run out of patience soon. His average is down to .187, though he does rank second on the team in homers (six), doubles (eight) and walks (17).
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are just 2-10 in their last 12 games versus National League East opponents.
Miami
The Marlins are 2-9 in Richards’ last 11 starts overall.
Prediction:
The Giants still have some big names on their roster but this team is a shell of its former self. Their offense is one of the worst in baseball and while their pitching was somewhat competitive in April, the staff is starting to fray. Meanwhile, the Marlins have won seven of their last 10 games and their offense has come alive. The Fish are 9-4 in their last 13 games versus the Giants overall and 4-1 in their last five home games against San Francisco. At -113 on the money line, the Marlins’ price is right.
Tuesday MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins -113
