Diamondbacks drop opener

Arizona had its three-game winning streak come to an end on Monday in a 4-3 loss at Colorado. The Diamondbacks are 28-26 on the season, 17-13 on the road and 27-25 with the over. Arizona has Merrill Kelly getting the start today. He is 4-5 on the season with a 4.75 ERA.

Monday’s game went 11 innings before Matt Andriese gave up the winning run. He is now 3-3 on the season. Zack Greinke pitched six innings and allowed just one run in the start. Jarrod Dyson had a double and a triple at the plate for Arizona while Nick Ahmed had two hits with a solo home run.

Rockies heating up

Colorado is picking up some steam right now, as they are 5-2 in their last seven following the win over Arizona on Monday, 4-3. The Rockies are 25-27 on the season, 12-12 at home and 29-21 with the over. Colorado has Antonio Senzatela taking the mound today. He is 3-4 on the season with a 6.21 ERA.

Raimel Tapia had a RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Rockies the 1-run win on Monday. Nolan Arenado had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Colorado at the plate. Jon Gray started the game and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs. Seunghwan Oh got the win in relief by pitching a scoreless 11th inning.

MLB Betting Trends

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 1-5 in their last six Game 2’s of a series and 1-4 in their last five games following a loss.

Colorado

The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five division games and 4-1 in their last five home games.

Prediction:

These two have split four meetings this season, with Colorado winning the last two. Kelly has been struggling on the mound lately, as he has given up at least three runs in three of his last four starts. Senzatela is in the same boat. He has allowed 20 runs over his last 19.2 innings on the mound. With both pitchers trending toward struggling, I will side with the Rockies at home to come through with the bigger hits and the bigger outs from the bullpen.

MLB Prediction: Colorado Rockies -140
