Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Neil Walker went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a loss to the Nationals on Sunday. The Nationals led 9-0 before Walker got the Marlins on the board with a two-run homer in the eighth inning. He also chipped in an RBI single in the ninth, but their comeback attempt fell short from there. For Walker, the homer was his fourth of the year, giving him 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. In the midst of a rebuild in Miami, the 33-year-old is quietly having a good year at the dish, batting .285/.364/.431 in 47 games through Sunday.
Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin
Howie Kendrick went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored as the Nationals held off the Marlins 9-6 on Sunday. Kendrick got the scoring started with a solo home run to lead off the second inning, and he helped extend the Nats' lead with a two-run single in the third. The litany of injuries has given Kendrick a long look in the starting lineup and he's made the most of it, batting .303/.346/.549 with eight homers, 28 RBI and 21 runs scored. If the Nationals find themselves sellers at the trade deadline in a few months, the veteran infielder could be an attractive commodity for a contending team.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are just 8-25 in their last 33 games versus the Nationals and are 16-45 in their last 61 games in Washington.
Washington
The Nationals are a perfect 7-0 in Max Scherzer’s last seven home starts versus the Marlins and they’ve won seven of his last eight outings against Miami overall.
Prediction:
The under is 17-8-1 in the Marlins’ last 26 road games and is 3-1-1 in Urena’s last five starts overall. The under is also 10-4 in Urena’s last 14 outings coming off four days of rest and is a combined 10-2 when Mike Muchlinski is behind home plate for any Nationals and Marlins games. The Marlins have swung hot bats of late but they were shut out by Patrick Corbin on Saturday and Scherzer could have similar success today.
The Pick: Marlins/Nationals under 8
