Dodgers grab another win

Los Angeles has won the first two games in this series, including a 7-2 victory on Saturday. The Dodgers are 34-18 on the season, 15-12 on the road and 26-24 with the over. The Dodgers are sending Kenta Maeda to the mound today. He is 5-2 on the season with a 3.51 ERA.

Los Angeles put up 13 hits on Saturday to help them get the win. None of them were a home run. The Dodgers did have seven doubles, including one from Cody Bellinger. Bellinger also drove in two runs to get him to 48 RBI on the season. Corey Seager also drove in two runs in the victory. Hyun-Jin Ryu got the win on the mound, his seventh of the year, by allowing just two earned runs over six innings with three strikeouts.

Pirates can’t get on track

Pittsburgh has lost four of its last five at home following Saturday’s 7-2 defeat against the Dodgers. Pittsburgh is now 25-24 on the season, 10-13 at home and 27-22 with the over. Chris Archer is the starter today. He is 1-4 on the season with a 5.55 ERA.

The Pirates stranded eight runners on Saturday, as they actually had 11 hits in the loss. Starling Marte led the way with three hits while Josh Bell had two hits, including a double. On the mound, Joe Musgrove gave up six runs over five innings to fall to 3-5 on the season.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 8-1 in their last eight against NL Central opponents and 38-14 in their last 52 Game 3’s of a series.

Pittsburgh

The Pirates are just 1-5 in their last six home games and they have lost Archer’s last five starts.

Prediction:

The Dodgers have just been the clearly better team and I don’t see that changing today. Archer has given up at least four runs in each of his last three starts. He is struggling with walks and has only gotten two runs or less of support in his last five starts. Maeda has pitched scoreless outings in three of his last four starts. He is coming off a 12-strikeouts performance against the Padres and we could see more of that today against a Pittsburgh lineup that is struggling to score runs.

MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -155
