Smyly earns first win
Texas scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning Friday night in a 4-3 victory at Los Angeles to improve to 25-23 overall and 8-15 on the road. Shin-Shoo Choo helped pace the Rangers offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Hunter Pence was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Asdrubal Cabrera ended the night 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and an RBI. Drew Smyly picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks over six innings. Mike Minor draws the start tonight for Texas as he comes in with a 5-3 record, 2.67 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 67 strikeouts over 64 2/3 innings.
Angels drop fifth straight
Los Angeles gave up one run in the sixth inning and another two runs in the seventh Friday night to send it to a 4-3 home loss versus Texas. Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run to help lead the Angels offense. Brian Goodwin was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIS. Tommy La Stella went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Cam Bedrosian took the loss in relief as he surrendered two earned runs on one hit with one strikeout and one walk over one inning. Tyler Skaggs takes the mound tonight for LA as he comes in with a 4-4 record, 5.01 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 40 strkeouts over 41 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rangers are 16-35 in their last 51 road games. Texas is 5-2 in the last seven Minor starts on four days of rest.
The Angels are 1-9 in their last 10 games versus the AL West. Los Angeles is 8-2 in its last 10 home games versus the Rangers.
Texas is sending its best starting pitcher to the mound tonight in Minor, while Skaggs has struggled with consistency and pitching deep into games. Los Angeles might be due for a win and the Rangers could be due for a loss, but for at least one day I'm going to continue to play hot-cold and go with the team playing better baseball that has the better starting pitcher on the mound.
