Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Derek Dietrich pounded his 12th homer Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to Milwaukee. Dietrich singled and scored in the second before adding to his haul by pummeling a two-out solo bomb in the third. He also found time in his busy schedule to draw a fifth-inning walk and a seventh-inning hit-by-pitch. The 29-year-old has flexed his power muscles by slugging 12 taters this year, which is only four off the career-high he set last season. He’s worth a stab in deeper fantasy leagues.
Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Anthony Rizzo had a monster game in a losing effort, going 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored on Thursday versus the Phillies. The Cubs fell way behind early but mounted several rallies to claw their way back into the contest before ultimately falling short at the end. Rizzo laced a two-run single in the fourth inning to get the Cubs on the board and added a solo shot off reliever Pat Neshek in the seventh. He is putting himself into the MVP conversation (although he trails Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich right now) by slugging .274/.391/.571 with 13 home runs, 37 RBI and 33 runs scored in 44 games.
