Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks are expected to recall first base prospect Kevin Cron prior to Friday's game versus the Giants. Cron has posted a robust .339/.437/.800 batting line and leads all minor leaguers with 21 home runs and 62 RBI at Triple-A Reno this season. John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM is hearing that Christian Walker is still expected to be the starting first baseman for now, with Cron getting the occasional start while also serving as a pinch-hitter. That said, Arizona's offense has really been scuffling of late and Walker has in particular with a .148/.233/.259 line and 36.7 percent strikeout rate over his last 15 games. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Cron eventually overtake Walker.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Joe Panik went 2-for-6 and scored a run as his team fell to the Braves in extras on Thursday. He doubled in the fifth inning and came around to score on a Stephen Duggar single. Panik was the only Giant to get more than one knock in the 13-inning contest. He has a .257 batting average with two home runs and 15 RBI in 172 plate appearances. Panik's fantasy owners are in a pickle if they are relying on him in their starting lineups.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks have dropped six of their last seven on the road and five straight overall.
San Francisco
The Giants are just 5-11 in their last 16 home games and are 2-5 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Diamondbacks have won four of Robbie Ray’s last five road starts versus the Giants, who are just 8-22 in their last 30 home games when facing an opponent with a winning road record. The Diamondbacks have also won seven of Ray’s last 10 road starts and four of his last five outings overall. Despite Arizona’s recent struggles, tonight’s price on the D-Backs’ money line offers some value given how profitable the team has been recently when Ray starts.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -125
