Nats held to three hits
Washington lost by a count of 6-1 score at New York Wednesday night to drop to 19-30 overall and 9-16 on the road. Adam Eaton helped pace the Nationals offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Juan Soto and Matt Adams each went 1-for-4. Kyle Barraclough took the loss in relief as he surrendered two earned runs on one hit with one strikeout and one walk over two-thirds of an inning. Stephen Strasburg draws the start for Washington tonight as he enters with a 4-3 record, 3.32 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 65 innings.
Davis homers in win
Rajai Davis hit a three-run pinch-hit home run in his first at-bat of the season Wednesday night in the eighth inning to help lead New York to a 6-1 home win over Washington. Todd Frazier finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. Juan Lagares was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Drew Gagnon threw one perfect inning of relief to pick up the win. Steven Matz will start tonight for the Mets as he comes in with a 3-3 record, 3.96 ERA an 1.27 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 38 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 5-0 in their last five Thursday games. Washington is 71-28 in the last 99 Strasburg starts.
New York
The Mets are 6-0 in their last six home games.
Prediction:
New York has played well this series to rebound from the disastrous trip to Miami last weekend. While Strasburg provides a challenge, so did Max Scherzer and the Mets managed to get to the horrendous Nats bullpen after Scherzer departed with a 1-0 lead through six innings. Look for Matz to keep New York in the game and the Mets perhaps getting the better of a bullpen showdown to sweep the series.
