Yankees torching Baltimore
The Yankees have won eight straight games with the Orioles, including all three in this series so far. They are coming off a 7-5 win on Wednesday. New York is 31-17 on the season, 14-7 on the road and 26-21 with the over. Masahiro Tanaka is getting the start today. He is 3-3 on the season with a 3.09 ERA.
The Yankees started fast on Wednesday, scoring four runs in the second inning, and then held on for the win. Aroldis Chapman earned his 13th save of the season with a hitless ninth. New York knocked five balls over the fence, including the 15th of the season for Gary Sanchez, and two for Gleyber Torres. Torres, DJ LeMahieu and Thairo Estrada each drove in two runs in the victory. C.C. Sabathia got his third win of the season despite allowing five runs in five innings. He struck out seven and allowed six hits.
Orioles lose five straight
Baltimore is riding a five-game losing streak coming into today. All five losses have been by multiple runs. The Orioles are now 15-34 on the season, 6-18 at home and 24-23 with the over. Baltimore has Dylan Bundy taking the mound today. He is 2-5 on the season with a 4.66 ERA.
Dan Straily struggled a great deal on Wednesday. He gave up six earned runs, including four home runs, over just four innings. He fell to 1-4 on the season. Renato Nunez led Baltimore at the plate with a home run and two RBI. Richie Martin was the only Oriole with multiple hits in the loss.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees have won 21 of their last 27 games on grass and 33 of their last 46 AL East games.
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 7-19 in their last 26 Thursday games and 20-50 in their last 70 games following a loss.
Prediction:
The Yankees are rolling in this series and have owned the Orioles this season. Baltimore doesn’t have the hitting or pitching to really contend with New York most days. The straight up odds are not great, so it is worth going with the run line. Given New York has beaten the Orioles by multiple runs more than not, I feel safe that Tanaka can lead this team to another lopsided win against Bundy, who already has five losses this year.
MLB Prediction: New York Yankees -1.5 (-145)
