Marlins keep winning

Miami is now riding a five-game winning streak following a 6-3 win over the Tigers on Wednesday. Miami has held its last four opponents to a combined seven runs. The Marlins are now 15-31 on the season, 6-14 on the road and 25-19 with the under. Trevor Richards is taking the mound today. He is 1-5 on the season with a 4.44 ERA.

Miami fell behind 3-0 on Wednesday, but the Marlins rallied late to grab the win. Garrett Cooper got things started with a solo home run while Brian Anderson and Neil Walker each drove in a pair of runs. Jose Urena struggled on the mound, giving up three runs in six innings, but he still got the win thanks to the Miami bullpen. The Marlins pen threw three scoreless innings to lock up the victory.

Tigers can’t win

Detroit is now on an eight-game losing streak following Wednesday’s 6-3 loss at home to the Marlins. The Tigers have been outscored 19-63 over the eight games. Detroit is now 18-28 on the season, 9-16 at home and 25-19 with the under. The Tigers have Matthew Boyd getting the start today. He is 4-4 on the year with a 3.41 ERA.

The Tigers couldn’t lock down the win on Wednesday as its bullpen blew up again. Buck Farmer gave up two runs on three hits in 0.1 innings of work, giving him his third loss of the season. Daniel Norris pitched well, giving up just two runs over six innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Gordon Beckham doubled in a run for the Tigers while Christin Stewart had three hits, a double and a RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Miami

The Marlins have won five of their last six interleague road games against a team with a losing record.

Detroit

The Tigers are just 7-19 in their last in their last 26 interleague games and 7-19 in their last 26 games against a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

Matthew Boyd started pretty well, but has given up seven runs over his last 10.1 innings. The concern with him is that he has little run support and a terrible bullpen. Richards hasn’t gotten much run support either and his numbers aren’t too different than Boyd recently. However, Miami is playing with a lot of confidence and that can go far, especially against a team that is a complete mess right now.

MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins +145
