According to oddsmakers, the Pirates are favored at home today, as they are getting odds of -130 to win. The Rockies are getting a money line of +120 to win, while the over/under total for the contest has been set at 8.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 66 percent going on the Pirates as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Rockies take first two

The Rockies have won the first two games of the series, 5-0 on Tuesday and 9-3 on Wednesday. Colorado is 22-25 on the season, 13-14 on the road and 25-20 with the over. Antonio Senzatela is taking the mound today for the Rockies. He is 3-3 on the season and has a 4.89 ERA.

The Rockies started fast on Wednesday, playing three runs in the first and following with three more in the third and fifth. Colorado finished with 16 hits. Daniel Murphy and Tony Wolters each drove in three runs on two hits in the win while Brendan Rodgers had three hits. Jon Gray picked up his fourth win of the season. He went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

Pirates quiet at the plate

Pittsburgh has put up just three runs over the two games in this series. The Pirates are now 24-22 on the season, 9-11 at home and 25-21 with the over. Pittsburgh has Jordan Lyles taking the mound today. He is 4-1 on the season with a 1.97 ERA.

Pittsburgh couldn’t get started, as its pitching struggled from the start. Martin DuRapau gave up three runs in just 0.2 innings, taking the loss. Nick Kingham also came in and gave up six runs over four innings. Josh Bell hit his 15th home run at the plate, driving in his 45th run of the season. Elias Diaz also had two hits for Pittsburgh.

MLB Betting Trends

Colorado

The Rockies have won four straight against NL Central opponents and five of Senzatela’s last seven road starts.

Pittsburgh

The Pirates have won Lyle’s last four starts, but are just 3-9 in their last 12 home games.

Prediction:

Lyles has been pretty solid on the mound this year. He has allowed 1 run or less in six of his last eight starts. He also has been racking up the strikeouts recently as well, K’ing 12 Padres last week. Pittsburgh is 7-1 in his starts. Senzatela has given up multiple runs in all but one start and Colorado hasn’t proven to be a reliable winning team. While the Rockies have won the first two games of the series, I don’t trust them to be able to perform well again today against a strong pitcher in Lyles.

MLB Prediction: Pittsburgh Pirates -130
