Nats edged by Mets
Washington lost by a count of 6-5 Tuesday night at New York to drop to 19-29 overall and 9-15 on the road. Juan Soto led the Nationals by going 2-for-4 with a home run plus a double and two RBIs. Brian Dozier was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Trea Turner was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Tanner Rainey took the loss in relief as he surrendered two earned on one hit with three strikeouts and two walks over one inning. Scherzer draws the start today as he enters with a 2-5 record, 3.72 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 87 strikeouts over 65 1/3 innings.
Rosario wins it in ninth
An RBI infield single by Amed Rosario in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night sent New York to a 6-5 home victory over Washington. It was the only hit for Rosario in five at-bats. J.D. Davis helped pace the offense as he was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit three-run home run. Pete Alonso was 1-for-1 with a solo home run. Jeurys Familia suffered the loss as he allowed two earned runs on two hits with no strikeouts and one walk over one-third of an inning. Starting tonight for the Mets will be deGrom as he comes in with a 3-5 record, 3.98 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 67 strikeouts over 52 innings.
MLB Betting Trends

The Nationals are 2-8 in their last 10 road games. Washington is 1-6 in the last seven Scherzer starts.
New York
The Mets are 5-0 in their five home games. New York is 1-6 in the last seven deGrom starts.
Prediction:
Neither of these starting pitchers have found their best form consistently this season, but in a day game and with both teams struggling a bit I could see a good old-fashioned pitcher's duel. Now that isn't necessarily a hot take or anything, but the tougher challenge is figuring out which pitcher and team will come out on top. With the Nationals bullpen in disarray aside from closer Sean Doolittle, I could easily see Scherzer leaving in a close or tied game only to watch his bullpen blow it. I expect deGrom to rebound nicely from his disastrous start against the Marlins and I'm betting on the Mets to get it done again at home.
