Marlins suddenly hot
Miami is on a surprising four-game win streak following Tuesday’s 5-4 win at Detroit. The Marlins are now 14-31 on the season, 5-14 on the road and 25-19 with the under. Jose Urina gets the start for the Marlins this evening. He is 1-6 on the season and he has a 4.44 ERA.
The Marlins picked up the win on Tuesday in 11 innings thanks to a Chad Wallach double in the top of the inning. He finished the game with two hits and two RBI while Brian Anderson had two hits and two RBI as well. Caleb Smith pitched five innings and gave up two runs with seven strikeouts and three hits. The Miami bullpen was pretty strong, as four of the five relievers pitched five scoreless innings.
Tigers continue losing streak
Detroit is now on a seven-game losing streak following Tuesday’s 5-4 loss at home to the Marlins. The Tigers have been outscored 16-57 over the seven games. Detroit is now 18-27 on the season, 9-15 at home and 25-19 with the under. The Tigers have Daniel Norris on the mound tonight. He is 2-2 on the season with a 4.50 ERA.
Joe Jimenez took his second loss of the season by giving up the run in the 11th. Spencer Turnbull got the start and allowed three earned runs over five innings while allowing seven hits. Miguel Cabrera had two hits and drove in two runs at the plate while JaCoby Jones had a solo home run.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are just 11-40 in their last 51 road games and 6-15 in their last 21 against AL Central opponents.
Detroit
The Tigers are 1-8 in their last nine interleague games and 0-7 in their last seven home games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Neither team inspires much confidence, but the Marlins were able to find a way to continue their win streak. Trends are siding with Miami right now. They are rolling while the Tigers can’t find a way to win. Urina has a high ERA, but he has given up just two earned runs over his last 13 innings. Norris was just lit up at home against Oakland. I think Miami finds a way to get it done again.
MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins +100
