Athletics win 15th straight over Tigers

The Oakland Athletics extended their win streak over Detroit to 15 games on Saturday thanks to a 4-1 victory. Oakland is now 22-25 on the season, 8-15 on the road and 24-23 with the under. The Athletics have Mike Fiers getting the start this afternoon. He is 3-3 on the season with a 5.12 ERA.

Daniel Mengden pitched a gem on Saturday on the road for Oakland, as he went seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits with five strikeouts. Mengden improves to 1-1 with the win. Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless ninth to record his seventh save of the year. Nick Hundley and Chad Pinder both homered in the win while Jurickson Profar tallied three hits.

Tigers lose sixth straight

On top of the long losing streak to the Athletics, the Tigers have now lost six straight overall following Saturday’s loss. Detroit is now 18-26 on the season, 9-14 at home and 25-18 with the under. The Tigers have Gregory Soto on the mound today. He is 0-2 with a 13.50 ERA.

The Tigers had just five hits in Saturday’s loss with only one extra-base hit. Ronny Rodriguez doubled and scored the lone run for Detroit on a wild pitch. JaCoby Jones was the lone Tiger with two hits. On the mound, Matthew Boyd took the loss to fall to 4-4 on the year. He gave up four runs over 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts.

MLB Betting Trends

Oakland

The Athletics have won six straight Game 4’s in a series and 43 of their last 55 against AL Central opponents.

Detroit

The Tigers have lost seven straight home games against a right-handed starter and 45 of their last 58 against AL West opponents.

Prediction:

I don’t know that I really need to break this game down. Oakland has won 15 straight against Detroit. That pretty much sums things up. But, if you need some extra motivation, consider that Fiers is a former Tiger that will be eager to pitch well against them and he’s dropped his ERA by nearly three over the last month. Soto has been a dumpster fire, giving up nine runs over six innings for the season. Oakland should definitely take this game and I would feel pretty good taking them on the run line as well.

MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-120)
