Orioles end skid

The Baltimore Orioles put an end to their 3-game losing streak on thanks to a 5-1 win on Friday. They are just 2-7 in their last nine games. Baltimore is 15-29 on the season, 9-14 on the road and 21-21 with the over/under total. Baltimore sends John Means to the mound today. He is 5-3 on the season with a 2.33 ERA.

Baltimore got some great pitching on Friday, as the Orioles gave up just three hits and one unearned run. Dylan Bundy got the win to improve to 2-5 on the season. He had seven strikeouts. The bullpen pitched 3.1 hitless innings. Jonathan Villar drove in three runs to lead the Orioles at the plate while Stevie Wilkerson drove in two runs. Both men had home runs.

Indians can’t get streak going

Cleveland suffered the loss on Friday to put an end to their 2-game win streak. The Indians are now 23-20 on the season, 12-8 at home and 25-17 with the under. Cleveland has Adam Plutko taking the mound for the first time this season.

Cleveland managed just three hits in Friday’s loss, not one of which was for extra bases. Jake Bauers had the lone RBI in the loss, his 15th of the season. Jefry Rodriguez took the loss on the mound, giving up four earned runs over 6.2 innings. He is now 1-3 on the year.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 30-89 in their last 119 road games and 15-36 in their last 51 against AL Central opponents.

Cleveland

The Indians are 9-2 in their last 11 games after scoring two runs or less in their previous game. However, they are just 2-5 in Plutko’s last seven starts.

Prediction:

The Orioles had some great pitching on Friday and Means has been strong on the mound as well. He has allowed one run or less in five of his last six appearances. Plutko pitched in 17 games last season and had a 5.28 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. The Indians have had some concerning issues at the plate over recent weeks. While they have exploded time-to-time, I think they are hard to trust. They face a respectable pitcher today while they don’t really know much about what Plutko will give. I am going to take my chances on the underdog today, as I expect more solid pitching from the Orioles.

MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles +135
