St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Marcell Ozuna went 1-for-4 and belted a solo home run as his team got thumped by the Braves on Thursday. He popped the dinger off reliever Jacob Webb with the bases empty in the sixth inning. Ozuna isn't hitting for a good batting average but he hasn't had any trouble amassing impressive totals in the counting stats. He is slashing .231/.313/.525 with 13 home runs, 38 RBI and 33 runs scored in 42 games. He ranks fifth in the majors in home runs and RBI.
Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Nomar Mazara is absent from the Rangers' lineup Friday. It's Mazara's turn to sit in favor of Willie Calhoun after Hunter Pence and Shin-Soo Choo did so the last two games. Mazara is 9-for-18 at the plate over his last four contests.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 1-5 in their last six games overall and are 1-6 in their last seven road games.
Texas
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last seven games and are 2-6 in their last eight interleague home games played in Arlington.
Prediction:
The Cardinal offense has been feast or famine of late but they should up plenty of runs tonight in Texas. Jose LeClerc will be the “opener” for the Rangers before giving way to right-hander Adrian Sampson, who is a low-strikeout pitcher that serves up plenty of home runs. On the other side, after a rough start to his season Miles Mikolas has pitched very well of late but the Cardinals have received shoddy work out of their bullpen. They did activate Carlos Martinez and recalled flame-thrower Ryan Helsley, but this Texas lineup should still feast as well. The over is 4-1 in the Rangers’ last five games and is 4-1 in the Cardinals’ last five road outings.
The Pick: Cardinals/Rangers OVER 11
