Royals struggling at the plate

Kansas City is coming off a 16-1 loss at home to Texas on Thursday. The Royals have dropped four of their last five games, scoring just three combined runs in those four losses. KC is 15-29 on the season, 5-14 on the road and 24-18 with the over. The Royals have Brad Keller taking the mound tonight. He is 2-4 on the season with a 4.47 ERA.

Kansas City has been a mess on the mound, posting a 5.27 team ERA this season with a 1.48 team WHIP. Offensively, KC averages 4.52 runs per game while hitting .246 as a team. Jorge Soler has been leading the team with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 27 RBI. Abalberto Mondesi has six triples, 10 doubles, five home runs and 36 RBI.

Angels return home

Los Angeles ended a 9-game road trip on Wednesday. They lost to the Twins, 8-7. The Angels went 5-4 on the road trip. They are now 20-23 on the season, 11-9 at home and 23-18 with the under. Matt Harvey gets the start for Los Angeles tonight. He is 1-3 on the season with a 6.69 ERA.

The Angels are putting up 4.88 runs per game this season while hitting .256 as a team. Pitching-wise, Los Angeles has a 4.90 team ERA and a 1.36 team WHIP. Andrelton Simmons is leading the team with 12 doubles and 21 RBI while Tommy La Stella has 11 home runs with 25 RBI. Mike Trout currently has eight doubles, nine home runs and 26 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are 20-52 in their last 72 road games and 13-39 in their last 52 against AL West opponents.

Los Angeles

The Angels are 5-1 in their last six series openers and 7-3 in their last 10 games against a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

The Royals have been struggling at the plate and they are likely to need runs tonight. Keller has given up at least five runs in three of his last four starts. Harvey certainly hasn’t had good numbers, especially at home, but I think he will be ok tonight. He already went seven innings at KC, allowing just two hits and one run. The Angels have been strong at home and should get a boost by returning from the long road trip.

MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -160
