According to oddsmakers, the Indians are the heavy favorite today, as they are getting odds of -300 to win, while the Orioles are getting a money line of +240 to prevail. The over/under total has been set at 9 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 76 percent going on the Indians as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Orioles in a big funk

The Baltimore Orioles have lost six of their last seven games following a doubleheader loss to the Yankees yesterday. They have scored three runs or less in their last five losses. Baltimore is 14-28 on the season, 8-13 on the road and 20-20 with the over/under total. Baltimore sends Dan Straily to the mound today. He is 1-3 on the season with an 8.23 ERA.

The Orioles have the league’s worst pitching, as they have a 5.44 team ERA with a 1.43 team WHIP. Offensively, Baltimore is averaging just 3.88 runs per game while hitting .236 as a team. Dwight Smith Jr. is leading the team with nine doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBI. Trey Mancini has 13 doubles, eight home runs and 17 RBI.

Indians looking to get momentum

Cleveland is coming off a 9-0 win at Chicago on Tuesday, but the Tribe are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. The Indians are now 22-19 on the season, 11-7 at home and 24-16 with the under. Cleveland has Trevor Bauer on the mound tonight. He is 4-2 on the year with a 3.02 ERA.

The Indians are one of the better teams in the league on the mound. They have a 3.58 ERA as a staff with a 1.20 WHIP. At the plate, Cleveland is averaging 3.66 runs per game while hitting .221. Carlos Santana is leading the team with six doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI while Leonys Martin has six home runs and 11 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 47-114 in their last 161 games following a loss and 9-42 in their last 51 series openers.

Cleveland

The Indians have won six straight against AL East opponents and 4-1 in their last five following a day off.

Prediction:

There is a lot going against the Orioles today. They are coming off a doubleheader and then had to travel while Cleveland had the day off yesterday. Straily has been a mess on the mound, giving up 11 earned runs over his last two starts. Bauer did have a rough couple of outings over recent weeks, but pitched seven strong at Oakland in his last start. I think he will be just fine working against this Baltimore lineup. While the straight up line doesn’t have much value, I would feel good about taking the Indians -1.5 runs tonight.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-150)
