Rays win opener
The Tampa Bay Rays bounced back from a 17-1 loss on Sunday by earning a 2-1 win at Kansas City on Monday. Tampa is now17-22 overall and 9-12 on the road. The Rays are putting up 4.21 runs per game this season while allowing 4.77 per contest.
Anthony Banda is getting the start for the Rays tonight. He is making his debut for the team after appearing in eight games last year for the Diamondbacks. He was 2-3 in 2017 with a 5.96 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.
Royals suffer third straight loss
Kansas City has lost five of its last six and three straight following Monday’s loss. The Royals are now 13-28 overall and 6-14 at home. Kansas City is putting up 4.02 runs per game this season while allowing 5.73 per contest.
Ian Kennedy will get the start for the Royals tonight. He has started eight games this year and is 1-4 with a 4.61 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP. He has 39 strikeouts with 13 walks through 41 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rays are just 1-4 in their last five games following a win and 1-6 in their last seven Tuesday games. However, they have won five of their last seven games against AL Central opponents.
The Royals are just 2-9 in their last 11 against AL East opponents and 0-4 in their last four against losing teams. They also are 0-5 in Kennedy’s last five starts against AL East opponents.
While the Rays have a new arm on the mound today, I still feel better about their ability to win over the Royals. Kansas City just hasn’t been able to maintain any success this season and Kennedy certainly isn’t helping matters. I think the Rays will be able to hit him and create some early runs and then hold off the Royals from there.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -105
